About
Nathan Phillips is an Associate Professor of Literacy, Language, and Culture. He studies teaching, learning, and literacies across the time and space of people’s lives as they materially, physically, and virtually engage in and travel through the world. In collaboration with educators working in youth-serving non-profits in Chicago and across the US, Nate explores and builds tools and resources with and for young people that recognize and cultivate family and cultural knowledges to enlarge and support opportunities to learn and to counter negative and racist narratives about communities, families, and youth of color.
